Rokona Agro Investment SL Limited is a leading agricultural company based in Rokona Village, Lower Yoni Chiefdom, Tonkolili District, in the Republic of Sierra Leone. Established in 2024 by visionary entrepreneurs Maxwell Rahman Koroma (Left) and Ibrahim Conteh (Right), our mission is to transform agriculture in Sierra Leone through innovative, sustainable, and community-centered practices.

As a company deeply rooted in the fertile lands of Rokona, we are committed to enhancing food security, promoting sustainable farming techniques, and driving economic growth in our region. What They Say

Our History

1980

  • In the 1980s, Rokona Village practiced traditional subsistence farming, growing staple crops like rice, cassava, and maize using simple tools and techniques. The community relied heavily on manual labor and rainfall for agricultural activities.

1990

  • The 1990s brought significant challenges due to the Sierra Leone Civil War, which disrupted farming and displaced villagers. Despite these hardships, the community displayed resilience, maintaining small-scale farming to survive.

2002

  • After the war ended in 2002, Rokona Village began to rebuild, with the support of NGOs and government agencies providing seeds, tools, and training. The early 2000s saw a return to farming, and efforts to restore agricultural productivity began.

2010

    • The 2010s marked a period of growth and modernization. Farmers adopted improved farming techniques, diversified crops, expanded livestock farming, and began agro-processing, leading to increased productivity and income. Better market access helped boost their livelihoods.
