Rokona Agro Investment SL Expands Sorghum Production with New Farmland Lease in Port Loko

The Management Team of Rokona Agro Investment SL Limited, led by Director & CEO, Mr. Maxwell Rahman Koroma, and Director & COO, Mr. Ibrahim Conteh, alongside key team members, visited Mabuwah Village, Masirima Chiefdom, Port Loko District. The visit marks a significant step as the company prepares to lease 175 acres of farmland to launch its first pilot phase of a 100-hectare sorghum plantation.

This initiative aligns with Rokona Agro Investment’s commitment to increasing local agricultural production, supporting food security, and strengthening the agribusiness value chain in Sierra Leone.

During the visit, the management team assessed the land’s suitability for large-scale sorghum cultivation, engaged in discussions with local authorities, and explored partnership opportunities with the local farming community. The leasing agreement is set to create employment and economic benefits for the people of Mabuwah Village while ensuring sustainable agricultural practices nationwide.

Speaking on the project, CEO Maxwell Rahman Koroma stated: “This project is a significant milestone for Rokona Agro Investment SL. The expansion into Port Loko District reflects our vision of scaling up agricultural production while fostering strong partnerships with local communities. Our goal is to develop a sustainable sorghum supply chain that benefits both the farmers and the economy.”

COO Ibrahim Conteh emphasized the importance of securing high-quality farmland for sorghum cultivation, noting that the company aims to finalize the lease agreement and commence farming activities in the coming weeks.

The move to Mabuwah Village further demonstrates Rokona Agro Investment’s role in advancing commercial farming, rural development, and agribusiness growth in Sierra Leone.
